Our mission is to ensure anyone facing hunger in America can access hot, nutritious meals with dignity.
We believe that no one should sleep hungry. Our goal is to supplement the wonderful work being done by the network of local food pantries in our area. We strive to build strong communities driven by empathy and service. We provide nutritious hot meals, free of charge, to anyone who is seeking nourishment, in a dignified and compassionate environment.​​​​
THE BOARD

DEvina Mahapatra
Founder
Devina founded America's Soup Kitchen as the Dulles South Soup Kitchen in 2020 to serve hot meals to those in need in Northern Virginia. Devina's passion for feeding the under-privileged came to light in her teens when her family fed the homeless, diseased and under-nourished in their hometown in India. She strongly believed that no one should have to sleep hungry. After moving to the United States in 2001, Devina had been an active volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program and the Frederick Rescue Mission. She also occasionally volunteered at the Capital Food Bank. Devina also worked at the Sunrise Senior Living in the evenings and weekends helping those with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
Devina currently works as a Global Business Agility Transformation Coach at AstraZeneca where she coaches leadership on more efficient software delivery. She was the co-founder of MyBusinessAssistant and held several technology jobs in Corporate America.
Outside of work, Devina loves hanging out with her two kids - her limitless source of inspiration.

KUMAR IYER
FOOD EXPERT
Kumar Iyer is a professional Chef and owner of award-winning restaurant, ‘Rangoli’ in Manassas, VA. He has a culinary degree from the Institute of Hotel Management, India and has over 28 years experience in the Industry. Formerly a Food Manager aboard luxury cruise liners, Royal Caribbean International LLC, and a General Manager with T.G.I.Fridays, Kumar Iyer has worked in many kitchens and worked with varied cuisine.

KALI VASANTHAN
STRATEGY & it
Kali has had a passion to help people who are hungry. In a world where there are so many rich people and governments having a good inflow of cash, there are also millions of people who struggle to get food for all meals in a day, especially in a country as rich as ours. But what has moved him deeply is the fact that there are millions of kids who don’t get access to good food on several days in a year and that has been the core reason for him to want to help make sure people that need food shouldn’t have to go hungry or have to pay high to get good food.
Kali has been working in the financial industry for over a decade and has strong background in software engineering and infrastructure management. He started his career as a systems engineer for an abrasives manufacturing company followed by experience as a software engineer in the field of telecom software and data center network monitoring. He has been working in Fannie Mae for 15 years and is now a Software Technology Manager.

NEHA JADHAV
TREASURER
With over 20 years of experience in financial management, tax planning, and corporate finance, Neha has a proven track record of leading financial strategies across various sectors. Her expertise includes managing large investment portfolios, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and fostering sustainable growth for organizations. She is passionate about using her skills to support the financial health and long-term sustainability of this board.

NICK GUYTON
BOARD MEMBER
Nick Guyton is a United States Marine Corps Infantry and Special Operations Officer with over two decades of leadership in combat operations, intelligence, and federal mission support. A 2002 Penn State graduate, he was commissioned as a 2ndLt and served with 2d Battalion, 3rd Marines, deploying three times as a Rifle Platoon Commander, Weapons Platoon Commander, and Company Executive Officer across the Pacific and the Middle East. Following his Infantry Battalion time, Nick later served with 2d Marine Special Operations Battalion (MARSOC) as a Team Leader, completing some of the military’s most demanding training courses and deploying two more times with his team overseas.

After leaving active duty in September 2010, Nick spent over a decade as a Government Contractor supporting classified U.S. Government programs, deploying globally in support of critical national security missions. In 2013, he founded Dagger Group, LLC, a SDVOSB providing specialized support to the Intelligence Community.
Nick now serves as the Director, Federal – Department of War at QTS Data Centers, where he channels his operational background into securing and scaling digital infrastructure for national security missions.
Nick’s passion has always been serving others; from supporting local villages during deployments, to serving his community at home, he truly believes in service before self and striving to make the world a better place for all to enjoy.
Nick lives in Potomac Falls, VA, with his wife, Gretta, and their three children—Nick Jr., Duke, and Lila. When not working, he can be found coaching youth sports or on the golf course fine-tuning his wedge game.

MALISA HALEY
BOARD MEMBER
As Founder/CEO and an executive strategy consultant with VSTI-Partners, Inc., Malisa partners with organizations whose missions are to deliver a positive impact on humanity and our fragile planet. She is typically found developing advocacy programs, implementing information technology platforms, or designing operational processes that enable the US Federal Government and non-profit sector to meet their strategic goals. Malisa has been an active volunteer in the schools through athletics, theatre and the PTA Executive Boards and currently serves on the Board for Arcola Christian Preschool and is wrapping up 4 years on the Board, including 3 as Board President, for the Dulles South Food Pantry.
Malisa has a BA in Political Science from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Information Systems from George Mason University. She lives in Chantilly with her husband, two children and sheltie.

RIA VASANTHAN
YOUTH OUTREACH
Ria Vasanthan is a senior in Sterling, Virginia. She has always been passionate about making sure that people are able to get nutritious meals and she is eager to make a lasting impact for this cause.
At school Ria has been a member of the NJHS and is now a club officer for Make a Wish club. She is also part of the school yearbook team. Ria enjoys playing volleyball, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends.
